Charlottenhoehle

one of the longest show caves...
Über das Projekt

With its 587 meters, the Charlotte cave is one of the longest show caves in southern Germany. The cave, discovered in 1893, was named after the Queen Charlotte of Württemberg. The cave’s guests will get a memorable and lasting experience and the subsequent short tour can give you a sneak peek at the fascinating world of stalactites.

Long ago, the cave was created by the force of the water. Then arose in many thousands of years in the halls and corridors is a true marvel of stalactites. One of the first mammals, who visited the cave were probably bats, but certainly cave bear. The bear left at several places in the cave smoothly polished rock surfaces, because they cleaned their coat of dried mud and bugs here. Ice Age hunters, as in the neighboring Lonetalhöhlen were not detected in the Charlotte cave.
